The GreenFleet Awards 2005 - Best Practice Award
All Parks

The Royal Parks took away the GreenFleet Best Practice Award at the 2005 GreenFleet Awards on September 22nd.

Hosted by Southwark Council, and supported by the Energy Saving Trust, the awards recognise how the Royal Parks and other winning organisations are making the most of existing technologies and fuels in order to reduce carbon emissions from their fleet vehicles.

The award acknowledges the Royal Parks holistic approach to fleet management incorporating alternative fuels, reducing the need to travel, and driver training.

In 1999 the Royal Parks negotiated a contract for the installation of LPG fuel bunkers and the supply of fuel in four of the parks under its remit. With easy access and low cost fuel on site, its contractors were persuaded to convert to LPG, and each new contract awarded by the Royal Parks requires the contractor to use green fuel.
