Visit the People's Village in Hyde Park to celebrate
the opening of the Tour de France
and watch live coverage of the Grand Départ on a big screen!
Come and celebrate all things cycling this weekend at The People's Village in Hyde Park - from Friday 6 July to Sunday 8 July
From cycling displays and attractions, to street entertainers and live music, the People's Village is a free, family-friendly event which has something for everybody. There will be a variety of informative exhibits, interactive displays and entertainment, including a New Orleans-style jazz and blues band as well as stilt walkers and jugglers.
The People's Village will also host French and British themed markets featuring a huge variety of traditional produce including breads, pastries, ice-cream, cheeses, crépes, and gourmet food and wine. There will also be craft stalls selling authentic French antiques, traditional Provenal baskets and tablecloths. For those who get thirsty, two full bars with outside seating will be selling real ales, Pimms and fine wines.
There will also be plenty to interest children, with the chance to learn various bike handling skills with experienced cycling coaches. They can then try out their new cycling skills on a special cycling obstacle course!
Remember, if you want to find out more about cycling - whether it's training, insurance, commuting, cycling events, and local cycle groups, or cycling for those with disabilities, the People's Village is the place to be! Transport for London, CTC - the UK national cycling organisation, the London Cycling Campaign, Sustrans, and Cycle-Aid are all here as are UK Sport and the Tour of Britain race 2007. There's even information about the London Olympics just look for the London 2012 Bus!
And finally, to make sure you don't miss any of the action from the Tour de France,
a big screen will show live coverage of various stages including the Opening
Ceremony from Trafalgar Square, the time trials and the Grand Départ.
