Restoration Project - News

What you will see in 2008
The Bushy Park Restoration Project aims to rejuvenate Bushy Park making the park more accessible for everyone, using 4.5m funding received from The Heritage Lottery Fund in April 2005. The restoration project has many elements.

Bushy Telegraph now available
The Restoration Project newsletter is now available. You can either download issue one or two of the newsletter in PDF format (see the download panel, right) or you can join our mailing list and receive a printed copy in the post.

Greater public access
Near the Woodland Gardens is an area known as Broom Clumps, which is not currently open to the public. The central part is occupied by the Park's maintenance depot, whilst the remainder is oak woodland. We plan to open up this area to discreetly provide a much-needed Welcome Centre with public toilets, tea pavilion and car parking. There will also be improved accessibility and facilities in the Park for people with special needs.

A safer environment
We are looking at ways to reduce the impact of traffic upon the Park, its users and its ecology. We hope this will make the Park safer - particularly for children - and will provide additional traffic-free areas for recreation. Bushy's open, rural parkland is perfect for exploration and new low-key signs will guide people to all the facilities, features and entrances. Elsewhere, new information boards will welcome visitors and highlight facilities and services. Further boards within the Park will include details on wildlife, history and other interesting features.
