Free Wheeling - Cycling In The Royal Parks

The Royal Parks provide fantastic ‘green’ routes in London, taking cyclists away from traffic and through some of the most attractive areas of the capital.

Cycling is allowed on ALL roads AND some specially designated cycle routes within the Parks – the only exception is Primrose Hill. Many of the routes link in with the wider London Cycle Network. Our most popular cycle routes are:

Hyde Park:
From Alexandra Gate to Hyde Park Corner, along Rotten Row; from Hyde Park Corner along Serpentine Road; from Victoria Gate along North Carriage Drive towards Speakers’ Corner and along the Broad Walk.

Kensington Gardens:
The Broad Walk and Palace Walk and Mount Walk

The Green Park:
Constitution Hill

St James’s Park:
North Horse Ride parallel to The Mall

Richmond Park:
The Thames Cycle Route across the Park from Ham Gate to Roehampton Gate; the Tamsin Trail, a 12 kilometre popular leisure path around the perimeter of the Park (shared by walkers and cyclists). Maps are available from the Park office.

Bushy Park:
All roads; linking Hampton Hill, Hampton Court and Hampton Wick.

Greenwich Park:
Blackheath Avenue, The Avenue and Great Cross Avenue.

The Regent's Park:
The Broad Walk - northern section only between the Inner and Outer Circle Roads; Inner Circle Road; Outer Circle Road including access from Macclesfield Bridge, Clarence Gate and Hanover Gate; Chester Road and York Bridge.

The Regent's Park Broad Walk Cycle Trial

The Hub sports centre and the Pavilion Tennis Centre in The Regent's Park has cycle racks outside. Locations for additional cycle racks have been identified and will be installed when funding is available.

Cycling Maps
To see where you can cycle in each individual park, download the map on each park's home page and look for the blue dotted line ... that indicates a shared cycle and pedestrian route.

Companion Cycling
Companion Cycling is a charity that enables people with special needs, regardless of their age or ability, to cycle on specially adapted bicycles in the peaceful surroundings of Bushy Park.
See www.companioncycling.org.uk for details.
